NECO Warns Teachers Against Fake Supervisor Recruitment Portals

NECO Warns Teachers Against Fake Supervisor Recruitment Portals

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cautioned teachers and members of the public against fraudulent websites soliciting payments from applicants seeking appointment as examination supervisors, stressing that the council does not charge any fee for the recruitment process.

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, ahead of the commencement of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, scheduled to begin on June 15.

According to the council, some fake online platforms have been deceiving applicants by demanding payments and directing them to upload academic credentials under the guise of processing supervisor appointments.

NECO clarified that, in line with the recommendations of the ministerial committee on the improvement of examination quality in Nigeria, it has migrated from the traditional analogue recruitment system to a fully digital process for engaging supervisors and assistant supervisors.

“NECO wishes to inform the public that the council does not request any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors,” Sani stated.

The examination body explained that the new electronic recruitment system was designed to eliminate fraud, strengthen transparency, reduce examination malpractice, and enhance the credibility of the selection process.

It noted that the recruitment exercise is fully automated and does not require any third-party involvement.

The council further outlined the eligibility criteria for applicants, stating that only pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old can apply through the official recruitment portal at https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng.

The council urged prospective applicants to disregard any website or individual demanding payment for supervisor appointments and advised them to use only the official portal, https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng, for their applications.

It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examination processes through transparent and technology-driven recruitment procedures.
