MOK Foundation Sponsors WAEC Registration for 300 Kwara Students

During the registration schedule for the soon-to-be-concluded WASSCE examination, the Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation sponsored the registration of 300 secondary school students for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), extending its educational support to beneficiaries across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State.

The initiative, which represented a 50 per cent increase from the previous year, was unveiled during a scholarship distribution ceremony held at the Offa Grammar School Auditorium, Offa. Beneficiaries were drawn from public secondary schools across the state and received support to cover their WAEC examination fees before the commencement of the examination.

Speaking at the event, the Foundation’s Director, Mr Saheed Lawal, said the expansion of the programme reflects the organisation’s growing commitment to educational advancement and youth development in Kwara State.

“When this journey began in 2024, we supported 130 students. In 2025, the number increased to 200, and today, 300 students across Kwara State are benefiting from this initiative.”

Lawal noted that the steady growth of the scholarship scheme aligns with the vision of the foundation’s founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, to ensure that no student is denied access to education because of financial constraints.

“Beyond the numbers, today is about hope, encouragement, and giving students the confidence to dream bigger. Education remains the strongest tool for change, and this is our way of investing in the future of our young people.”

The 2026 WAEC Scholarship Programme, themed “Continuing the Journey, Lighting the Path to Brighter Futures,” forms part of the foundation’s broader educational intervention aimed at supporting underprivileged students and promoting academic excellence across the state.

Delivering a lecture at the ceremony, Mr Aderemi Oladepo, Director of Weakypedia Linchpin Consult and Educational Services, commended the founder for his sustained investment in education and encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies.

“If you have a sound education, it will stay with you for life. When I had no other option, education became my lifeline.”

Oladepo also urged parents and guardians to continue providing guidance and support to help students achieve their academic goals.

Also speaking was Dr Azeez Yisa, Proprietor of Lens Polytechnic and Lens University, who was represented by Akeem Dunmoye, who encouraged the beneficiaries to justify the opportunity by striving for excellence in their examinations. He also lauded Alhaji Kayode for his unwavering commitment to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Parents, teachers, and guardians present at the event described the founder of the MOK Foundation as a visionary community leader, praising the consistency and impact of the scholarship scheme on education in Kwara State.
