JAMIU OGUNDELE, Senior Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, has sponsored the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination fees for 75 outstanding students across the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, in a move aimed at easing financial pressure on families while promoting a culture of academic excellence.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Zonal Information Officer, Mr. Lateef Akintunde, as a heartfelt demonstration of commitment to educational advancement.
According to the statement, beneficiaries were selected from 25 secondary schools across the constituency. The first, second, and third best-performing students from 10 senior secondary schools in Yewa North Local Government and 15 schools in Imeko-Afon Local Government were among those who qualified for the sponsorship.
Speaking on the initiative, Ogundele described education as a critical instrument for societal advancement, stressing that the programme was designed to lift the financial burden off parents while incentivising students to pursue excellence.

"Education remains one of the strongest foundations for building a better society," he said. "This initiative is aimed at encouraging our young people to remain committed to their studies and to assure them that hard work and excellence will always be rewarded."
He also called on other stakeholders to complement government efforts in expanding access to education.
"We equally know that the government can't do everything, so we all as stakeholders must always be ready to do our bit," he added.
Ogundele described the intervention as a reflection of his commitment to driving Governor Abiodun's developmental vision at the grassroots level, emphasising that the gesture carries a significance far beyond the payment of examination fees.
"This is not just about paying examination fees; it is about investing in the future of our communities and empowering the next generation to achieve greatness," he stated.

The sponsorship received widespread commendation from parents, community leaders, and residents across the constituency, many of whom described it as timely given the prevailing economic challenges facing Nigerian households.
Speaking on behalf of her fellow beneficiaries, Miss Ruqoyah Adefunke Adebiyi, a student of Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, expressed appreciation for the support.
"We are grateful for this support and encouragement. This gesture has given many of us hope and motivation to do better in our academic pursuits," she said.
Miss Suliat Kehinde Sikiru of Nazareth High School, Imeko, also added her voice, praying for continued accomplishments and elevation for Ogundele in his public service career.
