With just days to the end of his tenure, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has called on media practitioners and civil society organisations to give his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, the same level of cooperation that helped drive the Board's reforms over the past decade.
Oloyede made the call during a farewell visit by members of the JAMB Media Monitoring and Civil Society Group at the Board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
The Registrar, who is expected to vacate office on July 31, 2026, after completing a 10-year tenure, acknowledged the role played by the media and civil society organisations in advancing JAMB’s programmes and strengthening public confidence in the institution.
He said their efforts in creating awareness, monitoring activities of the Board and providing constructive feedback contributed to the achievements recorded under his leadership.

Oloyede expressed optimism that Prof. Segun Aina would continue the progress made by the Board, describing him as capable of taking JAMB to a higher level.
“I believe that if you think I’ve done anything, he will do better because I’m old-school. Professor Aina will do everything possible to take this board to a higher level and greater heights. So I ask for your support,” he said.
The outgoing Registrar also appreciated the group for honouring him with an appreciation card, noting that the gesture was significant and demonstrated the value of the relationship built between JAMB and its stakeholders.
During the visit, the group also recognised JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, with an appreciation card for his commitment and support in maintaining effective communication between the Board and the media.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Qasim Akinreti said the visit was organised to acknowledge Oloyede’s contributions to JAMB and his commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism.
“We believe that hard work and professionalism should be rewarded. Professor Oloyede gave the media and civil society the opportunity to be part of JAMB’s success story, and we are saying thank you,” Akinreti said.
He described Oloyede’s tenure as transformative, noting that his leadership raised the standards of integrity and accountability while repositioning JAMB as a globally recognised institution.
Akinreti further assured Prof. Segun Aina of the group’s support, saying it would continue to work with the new administration to sustain the Board’s record of excellence.
Prof. Oloyede’s exit on July 31 will mark the end of a decade-long tenure at JAMB, with Prof. Segun Aina set to take over the leadership of the examination body.
