JAMB Honours UNIZIK for Promoting Inclusive University Education for Blind Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has recognised Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) for its commitment to expanding access to university education for candidates with visual impairment.

The recognition was presented during the National Engagement on “Inclusive Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence” organised by the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Auditorium, Abuja.

UNIZIK received the National Engagement on Inclusive Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence Certificate in recognition of its efforts towards inclusive admission practices, particularly its admission of one of the highest numbers of blind candidates among Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The award highlights the university’s commitment to ensuring that visual impairment does not prevent qualified candidates from gaining access to quality higher education.

“The recognition celebrates tertiary institutions that have shown outstanding commitment to inclusive admissions and expanding access for candidates with special needs,” JAMB stated.

The achievement also adds to the list of milestones recorded under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, whose administration has continued to promote academic excellence, inclusiveness, and improved access to university education.
