Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education Fixes July 11 for 2026 Common Entrance Examination for Primary 6 Pupils

The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education has fixed Saturday, July 11, 2026, for the conduct of the 2026 Common Entrance Examination into junior secondary schools across the state.

The date was announced in the official 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) timetable released by the Ministry's Examinations and Certification Division.

The Common Entrance Examination, which serves as the placement examination for pupils transitioning from primary to junior secondary education, will be conducted after the 2026 BECE for JSS3 students concludes.

The Ministry also disclosed that the Entrance Examination into Model Girls' Secondary School, Ikot Ekang, Abak, and the Entrance Examination into Senior Science Schools will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Parents and guardians are advised to ensure that candidates complete all necessary registration requirements and report to their examination centres early on the examination day.

The Ministry also urged prospective candidates to come with the required examination materials and strictly comply with all instructions issued by examination officials.

The announcement provides clarity for parents, guardians, and schools preparing candidates for admission into public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State for the 2026/2027 academic session.

How to Pass the Common Entrance Examination

Although the Common Entrance Examination is separate from the BECE, pupils preparing for admission into Junior Secondary School can improve their chances of success by following these tips:

Start preparing early: Don't wait until the examination date is close. Consistent study over several months yields better results than last-minute cramming.

Study the Common Entrance syllabus: Focus on the subjects and topics prescribed for Primary 6 pupils, particularly English Studies, Mathematics, Verbal Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge, and Basic Science, depending on the examination body.

Practice past questions regularly: Solving previous Common Entrance questions helps pupils become familiar with the exam format and improves their confidence.

Strengthen Mathematics fundamentals: Regular practice in arithmetic, word problems, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry can significantly improve performance.

Maintain a healthy routine: Adequate sleep, proper nutrition, and a calm mind contribute to better concentration on examination day.

With proper preparation, discipline, and regular practice, pupils can perform well in the Common Entrance Examination and increase their chances of gaining admission into their preferred secondary schools.
