The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has resolved more than 5,000 pending complaints from candidates and other clients of the Board within five days.
The complaints covered various challenges encountered by candidates before, during and after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Aina achieved the feat after relocating to the Board’s Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit to personally review outstanding complaints and identify ways to resolve them.
Among the complaints addressed were difficulties generating profile codes by candidates who had registered with telephone numbers they no longer had access to.
The Board also reviewed cases involving biometric verification failures, with some confirmed as genuine issues that occurred during UTME registration or the examination.
Aina said the intervention was part of his administration’s efforts to improve service delivery and ensure candidates receive services that match the fees they pay.

Prof. Aina also directed SERVICOM desk officers to adopt a holistic approach to complaints and ensure they are resolved promptly. The directive reportedly resulted in the clearance of more than 5,000 pending and unresolved complaints within five days.
Other complaints examined by the Registrar included issues with the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), particularly cases involving candidates who lost their phones or SIM cards, candidates who changed from Direct Entry (DE) to UTME, and graduates whose names were missing from the National Matriculation List.

The intervention also covered payment difficulties, inappropriate examination centres, e-PIN issues, technical challenges and problems uploading required documents.
Complaints relating to changes of name, date of birth, state of origin and local government area were also reviewed and resolved.
Benjamin said the development demonstrated Aina’s determination to reposition JAMB through improved service delivery and effective communication.
He added that the Registrar’s direct involvement in resolving complaints showed his commitment to ensuring that candidates and other JAMB clients receive timely and effective services.
The Board said the exercise would be sustained as part of measures to strengthen its complaint-resolution system and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks faced by candidates.
