UNILAG Muslim Alumni Celebrates Professor Oloyede’s Legacy at JAMB

The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has congratulated Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede on the successful completion of his tenure as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

In a statement signed by UMA’s National Public Relations Officer, Dr Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle, on behalf of the association’s President, Dr Mumini Alao, the alumni association described Oloyede’s 10-year tenure at JAMB as one of the most impactful and exemplary periods in Nigeria’s public service, citing his contributions to institutional reforms, transparency and technological innovation.

According to Alao, Oloyede’s leadership transformed JAMB into one of Nigeria’s most efficient and respected public institutions.

He said the former registrar introduced reforms that strengthened the credibility of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), expanded the use of technology in the admission process, and helped reduce examination malpractice.

The association also commended Oloyede for what it described as unprecedented financial accountability during his tenure, including the remittance of billions of naira generated by the board to the Federal Government.

Alao said Oloyede’s record in office had established a benchmark for excellence in public administration, particularly in an environment where accountability and effective management of public institutions remain critical.

“Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has demonstrated that public office is a sacred trust. His integrity, transparency, courage and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only transformed JAMB but have also restored public confidence in one of Nigeria’s most strategic institutions.”

The UMA president also praised Oloyede for demonstrating values such as honesty, justice, accountability, humility and service to humanity throughout his career.

He described the former JAMB registrar as a worthy ambassador of the Muslim community and an inspiration to young Muslims aspiring to leadership positions in Nigeria.
