The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to recruit at least 22,000 supervisors to oversee the conduct of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, which is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.
The examination body disclosed this in a statement issued by its Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, explaining that the recruitment drive is part of efforts to ensure the smooth and credible conduct of the nationwide examination.

According to NECO, the initiative aligns with recommendations made by the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria and is aimed at strengthening supervision during examinations.
The Council revealed that it has replaced the traditional manual method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors with a fully digital process. The new system allows interested applicants to complete the recruitment process electronically through NECO’s official platform.
NECO noted that the automated recruitment framework is designed to eliminate fraudulent practices associated with supervisor appointments, curb examination malpractice, and promote transparency, fairness, and credibility in the selection process.

“It should be noted that the supervisor recruitment on the NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required,” the statement said.
NECO expressed confidence that the new system will enhance the integrity of examination supervision and contribute to the successful conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination.
The statement added that the new recruitment framework is designed to curb fraud in the selection of supervisors, reduce examination malpractice, and improve transparency, fairness, and credibility throughout the process.
