To combat the uprising of examination malpractice, the management of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has issued a strong warning to stakeholders and school owners to avoid the usage of proxies for its examination registrations.
Enrolling candidates using a Proxy is considered a fraudulent act that helps in identity theft and the presentation of fake results. But with the issuance of these new rules, NECO is determined to combat and ensure that culprits are brought to book.

As an additional security technique, NECO has introduced a new platform known as NECO e-Verify
The NECO e-Verify platform is an online tool launched by the National Examinations Council (NECO), and it's designed to confirm and verify the authenticity of NECO results.
The platform helps ensure that any certificate issued by NECO can be checked for legitimacy, and as such, any certificate that cannot be verified through this platform should be regarded as fake.

The Council urges state ministries of education and school owners to only use the personal details of genuine candidates when registering them for any NECO-conducted examinations.
NECO’s robust policy against malpractice ensures that those found guilty of impersonation during the recently concluded 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal will have their results withheld.
These efforts underline NECO’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations and curbing fraudulent practices across the board.
