The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced a new digital platform aimed at modernising certificate management across its member countries, even as it released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.
In a statement issued from its headquarters in Accra, Ghana, WAEC announced the rollout of its Digital Certificate Services System, also known as WAEC DigiCert, across Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
According to the Council, the new platform is designed as a mobile and web-based solution that allows candidates, institutions, and other stakeholders to conveniently access, request, verify, and share digital versions of WAEC certificates. It also provides a recovery option for candidates who may have lost their examination numbers.
WAEC explained that the system was developed to simplify certificate-related processes and reduce the administrative bottlenecks often associated with manual issuance and collection. It further described the platform as secure and reliable, noting that the authenticity of certificates issued through the system is fully guaranteed.

The examination body also highlighted that the platform had already undergone a successful pilot phase in Nigeria, where it reportedly received encouraging feedback from candidates and educational institutions.
While encouraging widespread adoption of the service, WAEC advised stakeholders to make use of WAEC DigiCert to avoid delays and challenges linked to traditional certificate processing. However, it clarified that the introduction of the digital system will not replace or affect the continued printing and issuance of physical certificates.
The application is now available for download on both Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with additional support information accessible through WAEC’s official online channels.

Candidates have been advised to check their performance status online before proceeding to access their digital certificates.
To verify results, candidates can visit the WAEC Direct Result Portal, while access to the new digital certificate services platform is available via the WAEC Official Website.
WAEC noted that the introduction of WAEC DigiCert represents part of its broader effort to embrace digital transformation and improve efficiency in examination administration across West Africa.
