WAEC Withholds 215,267 Candidates Amidst Releasing of the 2024 WAEC Result
Are you aware that the 2024 WAEC result is currently out, and candidates can now check their results online?
However, out of the total of 1,805,216 candidates who registered and sat for the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the management of the examination has recorded that 11.92 percent of the candidates' results are withheld.
The 11.92 percent which equals 215,267 candidates' results that have been withheld, is as a result of examination malpractice as disclosed by the head of WAEC, Nigeria, Mr. Amos Dangut.

The WAEC results were made available to candidates and disclosed to the council official X handle on Monday, August 12, 2024.
The X post reads;
“The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for school candidates, 2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024,”
However, out of the 1,805,216 candidates that sat the examination, 73.79 percent achieved credit and/or above in at least five subjects.
recall that the head of WAEC Nigeria had earlier explained that out of 1.8 million students who sat for the examination, 902,328 (49.7 percent) were males and 912,016 females (50.3 percent), and the examination was held in Nigeria, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
That notwithstanding, the results for 2024 show a reduction in withheld results compared to 2023, which had a 16.29 percent withholding rate.
