The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has denied allegations linking the regulatory body to the alleged leakage of results from the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination in the state, warning that defamatory statements against its leadership will attract legal action.
The Board, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the allegation was made during a programme aired on a popular radio station in Ibadan and described the claim as false, misleading and capable of damaging the reputation of the Board and its officials.
OYOSUBEB, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, stressed that it had no role in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the examination.
“For the avoidance of doubt, OYOSUBEB is not involved at any stage in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the Common Entrance Examination.
“Therefore, any attempt to link the Board, its Executive Chairman or its officials to the alleged leakage is completely unfounded,” the Board said.
It added that the administration of Adeniran had consistently maintained transparency, accountability and professionalism in carrying out its responsibilities, stressing that it would not permit unsubstantiated allegations or speculative reports to undermine its integrity.

The Board also clarified that complaints or inquiries concerning the conduct, administration or outcome of the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination should be directed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which it identified as the appropriate authority responsible for the examination.
“Such matters should not be directed to OYOSUBEB, which has no involvement in the conduct or administration of the examination,” it said.
While acknowledging the role of the media in holding public institutions accountable, OYOSUBEB urged broadcasters and media organisations to ensure that their reports are based on verified facts.
“While OYOSUBEB respects the role of the media in holding public institutions accountable, such responsibility must be exercised with due regard for accuracy, fairness and the fundamental principles of responsible journalism,” the Board added.
The Board specifically urged the management and presenters of the radio station involved, as well as other media organisations, to exercise caution and verify information before making or broadcasting allegations concerning OYOSUBEB or its officials.

It warned that defamatory statements, false allegations or continued smear campaigns against the Executive Chairman, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, would be met with strong legal action.
“The Board will not hesitate to pursue all lawful remedies available to protect the integrity and reputation of its leadership,” OYOSUBEB warned.
The Board said it remained focused on its mandate of strengthening basic education in Oyo State and would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to promote quality, transparency and accountability in the sector.
It consequently urged members of the public to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from the appropriate authorities concerning the Common Entrance Examination.
