The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for candidates offered admission into Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) in Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced the development on Monday, directing parents and guardians to check the admission status of their children and wards and print their admission slips ahead of the next stage of the admission process.
The admission exercise follows the release of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results, which is the qualifying examination for admission into JSS1 in the Federal Unity Colleges.
A total of 60,357 candidates registered for the 2026 NCEE, while 56,950 candidates sat for the examination across Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory, as well as designated centres in Benin and Togo.

According to the Federal Government, 10 candidates achieved the highest score of 202 marks out of a possible 210, while 82 candidates recorded the lowest score of one mark.
Placement into the Federal Unity Colleges was carried out using the three approved admission criteria: 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states and 10 per cent exigency.
Candidates who have been offered admission are expected to print their admission slips and report to the Federal Unity College indicated on their slips for confirmation and completion of the admission process.
Parents and guardians can check the placement status of their children and wards through the Federal Ministry of Education’s FME Posting Portal.

The latest admission exercise is also part of the Federal Government’s ongoing effort to automate placement into Federal Unity Colleges. The Ministry of Education had announced in 2025 that admissions into the colleges would be fully automated, with placements carried out according to the approved capacity of each institution.
The government said the automation was introduced to improve transparency and efficiency in the admission process, ensure better capacity management, and reduce overcrowding in the colleges.
Federal Unity Colleges operated by the Ministry of Education include Federal Government Colleges, Federal Government Girls’ Colleges, Federal Science Colleges and Federal Science and Technical Colleges located in different parts of the country.

The ministry urged parents and guardians to check the admission status of their children promptly and ensure that successful candidates meet all reporting and documentation requirements stipulated by their respective colleges.
Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, congratulated the successful candidates and encouraged them to approach their secondary school education with diligence, discipline, and a strong commitment to academic excellence.
Successful candidates are therefore expected to take note of their reporting dates and complete the necessary admission formalities at their assigned Federal Unity Colleges to secure their placement.
