Three years after being barred from participating in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Ejikeme Mmesoma is now eligible to register for the examination again.
Mmesoma became the subject of nationwide attention in 2023 after she publicly claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME, a result that would have placed her among the highest-performing candidates in the examination.
However, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) disputed the claim, stating that its official records showed she scored 249. The examination body further alleged that the result slip displaying a score of 362 had been manipulated using the notification format from the 2021 UTME.

The incident sparked widespread public debate, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions as the controversy unfolded.
Subsequently, an investigative panel set up by the Anambra State Government examined the matter. Findings from the inquiry indicated that Mmesoma admitted to altering the result and later apologized to JAMB during a hearing before the House of Representatives Committee handling the case.
Following the investigation, JAMB imposed a three-year ban on her participation in all its examinations, with the sanction taking effect in July 2023.
With the expiration of the three-year disciplinary period in July 2026, Mmesoma is now eligible to generate a JAMB profile code, register for the UTME, and continue her pursuit of higher education if she chooses to do so.
