The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced October 31, 2026, as the deadline for public universities across Nigeria to conclude admissions for the 2026 academic session.
The decision was reached during the 2026 JAMB Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja on Monday. According to the resolutions adopted at the meeting, private universities have until November 30, 2026, to complete their admission processes, while polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education are expected to finish admissions by December 31, 2026.

JAMB said the deadlines are part of efforts to ensure a more organized and stable academic calendar across tertiary institutions in the country. The board also urged institutions to strictly comply with the approved timelines to avoid delays in academic activities.
The policy meeting, attended by vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, and other education stakeholders, also reviewed admission procedures and guidelines for the new academic session.
In addition to setting admission deadlines, stakeholders reportedly approved benchmark scores for admissions into universities and other tertiary institutions. Public universities are expected to begin announcing Post-UTME and screening schedules immediately after the policy meeting.
Candidates seeking admission have been advised to regularly monitor the JAMB CAPS portal and their preferred institutions’ websites for updates regarding screening exercises, admission lists, and acceptance procedures.
