Jamb makes a plan to schedule a make-up exam for technically affected candidates (JAMB 2026 UPDATE)

The recent technical disruptions during the 2026 JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exercise affected a lot of candidates.

So, sequel to that, the management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that plans are in place to conduct a make-up examination for affected individuals.

The affected candidates also play a vital role in ensuring that this development is adopted by laying complaints that they were unable to complete or properly sit for their examinations due to system failures at their assigned accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

The sudden technical disruptions at the various centres reportedly affected the smooth conduct of examinations in isolated locations, raising panics about fairness and equal opportunity in the assessment process.

As a result of that, candidates and parents were worried, and some called for immediate clarification on when a rescheduled examination would take place, since the incident was impacted by the technical challenges.

In response to the masses' concerns, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, guaranteed that underground arrangements were ongoing to comprehensively address the situation.

He stressed that the Board was aware of the level of anxiety caused by the incident and was working to make sure that all affected candidates were afforded another opportunity to sit for the examination under fair and stable conditions.

Dr. Fabian disclosed that the make-up examination may probably be held in the second week of May, as the official date will be communicated to the public soon.

This decision is part of JAMB's broader efforts to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged due to technical or operational challenges beyond their control, while also reflecting the Board's commitment to maintaining credibility, transparency, and fairness in the conduct of its examinations.

The Board further reassured candidates that no affected student would be left behind.

JAMB assured that the technical teams were reviewing the systems used in CBT centres to identify the root causes of the disruptions and strengthen the infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.

The technical team will do everything possible to ensure server stability, monitoring centre readiness, and provide real-time technical support during examinations.

I hope this announcement brought a huge relief to the candidates while awaiting the official schedule for the make-up examination.
