Zulum Hands Over New JAMB North-East Zonal Office, 500-Seat CBT Centre in Borno

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has officially unveiled and handed over a newly constructed Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) North-East Zonal Office and a 500-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to the examination body in Maiduguri.

The multi-million naira facility, built and donated by the Borno State Government, is located along the Maiduguri-Dikwa Road. It will serve as JAMB's regional headquarters for the North-East, providing administrative services and conducting computer-based examinations for candidates across the region.

The project comprises a modern administrative complex and two CBT halls capable of accommodating 500 candidates simultaneously.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Zulum described the project as part of his administration's commitment to strengthening education and supporting national institutions.

He said the facility would improve access to JAMB services in the North-East while serving as a regional examination hub for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

According to the governor, the investment reflects the state's commitment to improving educational infrastructure and expanding opportunities for young people.

Receiving the facility on behalf of JAMB, the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, praised Governor Zulum for what he described as an unprecedented gesture.

According to Oloyede, it is the first time in JAMB's history that a state governor has independently constructed and donated a zonal office and CBT centre to the Board.

The outgoing JAMB Registrar noted that the CBT centre would significantly improve examination delivery in the region.

He explained that the facility could accommodate 500 candidates at once and process more than 2,000 candidates daily. He also said the integrated registration units would enable the Board to complete registration and documentation for candidates from Borno State within a few days.

"Today, reality has surpassed my expectations. In just four months, what seemed humanly impossible has been accomplished. This facility stands as a testament to your visionary leadership, your commitment to educational advancement, and your unwavering dedication to the people of Borno State and the Northeast region," Oloyede said.

He added:

"The CBT centre you have graciously provided will serve as a beacon of excellence for computer-based testing and administrative services. It will bring immense relief to candidates, educational institutions, and stakeholders across this region."

Oloyede further commended Governor Zulum's continued investment in education and youth development.

"Your investment in education, human capital development, and youth empowerment continues to inspire hope and reaffirms the enduring role of education as a foundation for peace, stability, and societal progress. Your leadership, characterised by courage, compassion, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to public service, has positioned you as one of the most respected public servants in contemporary Nigeria," he said.

As part of the event, Governor Zulum directed the Borno State Ministry of Education to name the newly commissioned facility after Prof. Is-haq Oloyede in recognition of his contributions to educational development and examination reforms in Nigeria.
