What is the WASSCE statement of the Result?

Students or candidates do not know the difference between a statement of result and a certificate, so before I continue, let me use this opportunity to look at the difference between both concepts.

A statement of result is a result that is issued to a student to show that a student has completed coursework from the institution. A statement of result is issued to the student in the name of the school or institution.

Most institutions or schools offer the statement of the result as a student's marks and or grades. Statement of result is also known as notification of result. The statement of result does not carry so much information or details of the candidate.

What is a WAEC Certificate?

We mentioned that the statement of result is issued by the school or institution of a candidate, but the certificate is issued by the body that conducts the exam, for instance, the WAEC certificate is issued by WAEC itself and not the school.

So for students to get their WAEC certificate, they have to apply through the WAEC office. It's only the regulatory body, WAEC that has the authority to issue certificates to the candidates who sat for the examination. In the certificate, you will find the candidate’s full name, address, subjects registered and sat for, year of graduation, and class of graduation.

Requirements for the Collection WASSCE Statement of Result

Since the WAEC statement of results is issued by the school, you have to apply for it at your school, where you sat for the exam, or you can apply for it through  WAEC. to this, you have to write a letter to WAEC or you can pass it through the principal of your school.

To apply, you need the following requirements:

  • Your full name as used in the examination
  • The Name, Month, and Year of Examination
  • Your Index Number
  • Passport photograph.
  • A valid identification document

You need the above document before you go to collect your statement of result, so that can serve as a means of identification that you are the real owner of the result you want to collect.

After you have applied for the statement of result, you will have to wait for at least two weeks for them to process the result, and after that, you will move to any WAEC office that is close to you and collect your result.
