The examination body, in a statement issued by its Public Communication Adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, attributed the delay to the recent conclusion of foreign UTME examinations and ongoing preparations for a mop-up examination designed for candidates who were unable to sit the main exam through no fault of their own.
"The printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip has not yet been activated. Candidates are kindly urged to be patient as the Board has just concluded the foreign examinations and is also preparing to conduct the mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to sit for the main examination through no fault of theirs," the statement read.
The board offered a technical explanation for why the result slips cannot be released immediately after the examinations conclude. According to JAMB, the UTME is not merely a pass-or-fail test but a ranking exercise, meaning every candidate's result slip carries comparative data that can only be finalised after all examination processes are wrapped up.
"Candidates are reminded that the UTME is a ranking examination, and the Original Result Slip contains the ranking of candidates. Consequently, all necessary processes must be completed before the slips can be released," Benjamin said.
Despite the frustration the delay may cause, JAMB assured candidates that the printing portal would be activated soon and that they would be formally notified before being asked to proceed.
"As soon as the necessary adjustments are concluded, the printing portal will be activated. This will be done shortly, and candidates will be duly informed when to proceed with the printing of their result slips," the statement added.
The board apologised for any inconvenience and appealed for understanding from candidates and other stakeholders awaiting access to the original result slips.
The delay has triggered growing anxiety among candidates, many of whom urgently need their result slips for post-UTME screenings, university admission processing, and decisions around change of course or institution. JAMB has previously enabled SMS result checking for candidates using their registered phone numbers.

This temporary measure has provided some relief, though it falls short of the official documentation required for full admission processing.
This development comes after the board pegged 150 as the cut-off mark for university admission in 2026, a decision that has already set the tone for what is shaping up to be a keenly competitive admissions cycle.
For now, candidates are advised to monitor JAMB's official communication channels and await the board's formal notification before attempting to access the printing portal.
